Saturdays on the Road

How do you spend your Saturdays? Most people I know that are caught deep inside life's rat race that are so busy racing from place to place, taking care of their houses and their yards, and then trying to convince their kids to complete all the homework that was sent home from school. I will add the caveat that with the pandemic people have slowed down drastically because they had no choice. A lot of activities have been canceled and school went largely virtual across the globe. However, things are starting to return to normal and the chaos is kicking back up.

Long before we went full time I was not a fan of the rat race. I was annoyed when we had more than two things to do on a weekend, which was always. I married a man with four kids on multiple soccer teams, we were always busy. I hated it. I was exhausted all week from the regular day to day and then practices, I just wanted to be able to sleep in on Saturday and not need to have three kids three different places before 9am. One of the worst things I hated though was the fact that most of the people I talked to were proud of how busy they were. That was just baffling.

Jump forward to the here and now. We're full time and we homeschool. Truly homeschool. I create the curriculum alongside with my husband heading up all math related items. It's amazing! Everybody is so much calmer and happier. So no homework on the weekends or crazy sport commitments. In addition to the fact that our house is 250 square feet, so cleaning takes less than an hour to complete everything and we use a laundromat so we don't spend hours of our lives doing laundry.

Yesterday we decided to head to the Ocala National Forest and do a hike. We did 3.85 miles in the Florida heat but it was gorgeous!

The scenery here is nothing like we're used to in Kansas. It was a sandy hike, filled with beetles, lizards and grasshoppers. I'm thankful we didn't come across any alligators or bears. Seeing the bear scat was enough for me!

So riddle me this, would you rather be racing around and trying to get everything done, or enjoying your time here!
